Trout fishing with dad
May 29th, 2010
Gotta love it when your son comes home from college and says “Dad, I want to go catch some trout”. Many of you have young children and the days can be tough and endless, limited fishing, a lot of daddy do’s, but there is a different time coming and the hours you put in with them pays off.
On and off for about 4 hours, great time was had by all. Enjoy Memorial day and remember why we have it…… TC May 2010

Levi Baur Archery Shoot
May 28th, 2010
The Levi Baur Archery Shoot and Auctions that where held in Crawford, TX for several years starting in 2002. It was a another success this year and big thanks to all. Texasbowhunter.com was a huge part of of the success of the event and it really went to show how great of people we have on TBH. The people of Crawford still talk about “those Texas bowhunting guys” in terms of generosity. I see a lot of Levi Baur t-shirts around town with the TBH logo on the back and it sure does make my heart swell with pride each time I do.
This is a special year because Levi would have been a senior and graduating from Crawford High School this Saturday. For those who have not heard the story, Levi passed away while on a hunting trip with his dad. Levi was an avid outdoors man and athlete. Since 2002, a $1000 scholarship has been given to a senior at Crawford High School in memory of Levi Baur. This year is a special year because Levi would have been graduating. The Levi Baur Scholarship Fund is going to award 50 classmates of Levi’s $5200 scholarship each if they go on some sort of post education (college, military, truck driving school, etc). After this year it will go back to giving a $1000 scholarship every year. It seems like yesterday I was sitting at the computer with my mom watching TBHer after TBHer open up their wallets to give to the Levi Baur fund. It is events like this that set Texasbowhunter.com apart from the rest. Please also send up a prayer for Matt, Sandra, and Katy Baur as they go through this time weekend. Thank you from the Stanford Family (Bill, Marsha, and Heath) May 2010

Had to put my hunting buddy down
May 26th, 2010
Had to put my hunting buddy down. I got him when I was sixteen years old and he was with me on my first ever waterfowl hunts. We learned everything we knew about waterfowl together. He was in my highschool senior photos with me. He was with me through college, outlasted any woman I have been in a relationship with and was always excited to see me everyday when I got home from work. He went to Canada 4 of the 7 years I have been up there and has hunted in 7 different states with me. He has retrieved thousands upon thousands of birds for me. He flushed and retrieved pheasants and quail for me for 5 years of guiding and he was the only dog I used most days while guiding for upland birds. He was there for me through everything that has gone wrong in my life and I had to put him down this morning and watch the life leave his body. Saddest day ive ever had. I just wanted to put some pictures up to remember and honor my bestfriend. You guys will understand the bond we have with our dogs better than most non hunters will ever understand.
