A good elk hunting scope
October 2nd, 2010
Hello all, what is the best scope in your opinion for a 7mm mag for elk hunting? I am in the process now of planning an elk hunting trip a year from now and wanted to get a jump on the best scope. To prepare I need your suggestions, opinions, plus specific scopes with brand names, power, etc. I will be hunting in Colorado and using a Winchester Black shadow.
Thanks in Advance, Vin. Sep 2010
When to start hunting my dog?
September 21st, 2010
I would like my three month old Springer Spaniel to be my bird dog someday. So my question is at what age should I start training for him to hunt, and should I train him myself or seek out a professional service? Why? Because I am also new to bird hunting and don’t feel confident or have enough experience myself. I have always been a big game hunter but have always wanted to bird hunt. I just don’t have anyone to do it with, so I got my own hunting buddy. Also, is it possible to completely train him at home?
Thanks!

The best approach to find hunting land? I live in SE Arkansas and I am looking for a small plot of hunting property (40- 300 acres) for two hunters to hunt, and possibly few friends to lease for hunting deer, rabbit, hogs, etc. I have googled “hunting property for lease” in Arkansas and either the price is outrageous or I simply can’t find any. Is there a websites that has a list of properties available or am I just dreaming? Any other suggestions? Oh yes, I also called the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and they could not help me. Thanks!

Video taping my hunting trips
September 6th, 2010
I’ll pitch in, what is a good camcorder that is durable and easy to use to bring along on my hunting and fish trips? I have my eye on a Sony HC38, but I am unsure of how it’s performance in low- light conditions that are common when in the field hunting. I would prefer the camcorder to take clear video past sundown, but not all the way until it is pitch black outside. My budget is $250-$350. Possible? Suggestions, Arky- Sep 2010
Another kid asking about hunting.

This question was sent via an email so I thought I’d post it here for some of you to answer.. Admin Hello! I am at the library and we are not allowed to post on blogs, facebook, or forums. I got your blogs invitation email and wanted to ask a few question regarding hunting and fishing. I just turned 16 and I want to start hunting and fishing (more) and have never hunted and only fish maybe once or twice in the summer. My step-father has a new cabin and likes to hunting and fishing alot. He really does not talk about it or provide too much information so and I am looking for information about the different types of guns and equipment for deer hunting. If you could point me to your favorite places on the internet that has a lot of information regarding deer hunting and stuff , that would be great! Also, any advice on firearms for deer hunting and techniques I am all ears. Thanks for all your help ahead of time! James McClendon

Over the years I see less and less youth in the field hunting or any outdoor sports for that matter. Their only interest now is PS3 or internet related popularity like facebook or myspace. When I was a kid you could not get me out of the woods and I learned a lot about how nature life works in balance. Now, most kids don’t even want to leave the house or even communicate/inter act with family. Most would be known as the “fat kid” when compared to when I was growing up as youth. Since there is less and less people doing outdoor sports, what are some ways I can get/convince kids and other people to go hunting and pick up different outdoor sports such as, camping and fishing? Winchester or Ruger hunting rifle?
August 30th, 2010
Ruger Model 77 Mark II Frontier Or a Winchester Model 70 Black Shadow I can’t decide on these two rifles to buy as my new deer hunting rifle. The Winchester is a 7mm Mag & the Ruger 7mm-08.
Both rifles are used but in great shape and look and function new ie., clean bore and all and priced to buy right now! I am trying to decide which one is best all around. Which one has less of a kick back on firing? Which one has more of a clean kill on hunting game? These rifles would be scoped of course, and also used on long range targets.
Thanks in Advance
