Fly fishing with our fathers
Guys, our fathers are not getting any younger. Get out and enjoy time with them one-on-one at least once a year. My wife’s dad passed only 60-days after being diagnosed with brain cancer, so don’t push it off another year.
I finally pulled the gear out for the opening weekend of trout season for the first time in over 8 years. Got to spend some quality time with my sixty year old father. I don’t get those moments much anymore, since we live so far away. Usually I am playing the role of “Dad” to my kids when we are around each other. This was truly a highlight in my life. Spending 2 days on the streams with Pop, and 3 nights at our cabin with old friends. There was a time when Pop and I were sitting on a rocky beach casting one at time under an overhanging tree back under the roots into a 4′ deep crystal clear pool.
